Our Afrocentric teachers’ claim about slave trade

It’s a very untrue notion to suggest that Portuguese traders sailed the tiring distance to force Africans into slavery!
Our Afrocentric teachers would claim Africans were innocently captured into slave ships but the itsekiri have a good story-telling history and perhaps the best if not the Yorubas of which they are related.

There are indigenous and well documented accounts of itsekiri contacts with Portuguese slave traders. This was a profitable business carried out with the blessings of catholic priests who even facilitated the failed training of an olu of ode-itsekiri also known as king Dom Domingo who married a Portuguese woman and thus couldn’t be called a catholic priest.

The itsekiris captured the less advanced ijaws and urhobos who they traded freely with Portuguese merchants.
Transatlantic slavery could never be possible without indigenous cooperation. No European would have the courage to capture people from subsaharan Africa without indigenous cooperation.
The itsekiris sold slaves from the ijaws and urhobos they considered subjects to the crown of iwerre of which was descended from 15th century Bini Prince ‘Ginuwa’.
The truth is that Africans alone can right the wrongs they’ve done to each other, they alone can reject slave loans from international banksters but can they take the selfless noble path to redemption?
Can they cooperate with each other for the benefit of all?

Truth must always be told and the truth is that it took British military force to stop slavery in warri kingdom and other parts of Africa.
If the British hadn’t prohibited slavery, Africans would still provide their brothers for trade to this very day.
If you doubt me, make a little research on slavery in Mauritania, it wasn’t outlawed till recently and it’s still going on despite the laws against it. The Nigerians taking the adventurous trans-Saharan routes to Europe are testament to the slavery till going on in Africa.
Objectivity means not being blind to the flaws within but highlighting it to the whole world.
Waiting for anyone to counter my claims of indigenous participation in slavery.
