FG to Stop Mother to Child Transmission (MTCT) of HIV

President Jonathan is set to put in place a strategic policy aimed at sustaining the decline in the HIV/AIDS cases across the country. The President is expected to launch a National Action Plan to end Mother to Child Transmission (MTCT) of HIV in the country.

Director General of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS Prof. John Idokohat stated that the initiative aims to achieve political and social mobilization to end the AIDS epidemic among children.

“It will start with the launching of a National Action Plan to end Mother to Child Transmission of HIV in Nigeria between 2015 and 2016 and progress into a vigorous one-week long nationwide campaign of HIV counseling and testing (HCT) for pregnant women,” he said.

Idoko stated Nigeria under the guidance of President Jonathan has seen commendable progress in the fight against the virus.
