The ultimate defeat of President Jonathan Goodluck of Nigeria in the next month presidential election by General Muhammadu Buhari will be a very good political development for Nigeria for a number of reasons.

Firstly, this will set a good example and precedence in Nigeria that an incumbent President that failed to perform in office and he or she was unable to deliver the good can be defeated by the opposition candidate.

Secondly, this development will also help to deepen and strengthen our party politics and democracy by forcing the political parties to always select the best materials for those elective offices.

Thirdly, no public elected official will ever take Nigerians again for granted or for a ride. They will always strive to perform at their best in order to keep their jobs and to deliver on their promises to their fellow Nigerians.
