Police arrests the alleged mastermind of the stripping, battering of the Ebonyi schoolgirl

Police in Ebonyi have arrested 4 persons over the treatment meted out to 14-year-old girl, Uzoamaka Chukwu. Also, yesterday, the Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, condemned the stripping and battering of the girl.

For allegedly being caught with her lover, Chukwu, a JSS 2 student, was allegedly stripped naked, dragged around on the ground and flogged under the orders of the coordinator of Ohaozara Development Centre, Ogbonnaya Odi (pictured above). Mr. Odi’s his brother, Enekwachi Odi and two policemen who allegedly took part in the act, have also been arrested.

The governor, in a statement by his spokesperson, Emma Anya, said he had directed the police to ensure that all the perpetrators, were properly investigated with a view to bringing those guilty to justice. He also vowed to ensure that Chukwu is properly rehabilitated and made to overcome the trauma she has passed through.
