The meaning of Ejayboo back in the day !

ijebu
Did you know that centuries ago supposedly during the 18th and perhaps 19th centuries when Christianity was being introduced to Yorubaland, Kings of Ijebu people (the Awujale) executed anyone who practiced or worked as a Christian clergy ??

Ps: Pronounced and spelt by the colonialists as ‘Ejayboo’ but rightly spelt ‘Ijebu’ (Ijebu is a sub-ethnic of Yoruba nation)

Proudly Yorùbá
