Reverend Lijadu pictured was born into a Christian family in Abeokuta, NIGERIA a city in South West Nigeria (Yoruba Land).
He wrote this book on Ifa (not pictured) circa 1908. It was an attempt to convert the local Yoruba people traditionalists to Christianity (by trying to infiltrate from within to shame Yoruba tradition and African Spirituality and uplift Christianity ).
He went “undercover” and trained to be a Babalawo ( traditional IFA Priest Diviner ) to aid his Christian Missionary works of converting adherents of IFA to Christianity and add to his congregation.
Inadvertently throughout the training process when he was undercover, he then realized that Yoruba traditional identity (isęse) made a lot of sense and he eventually abandoned Christianity to become a traditionalist.
