The Supreme Court on Thursday coordinated the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) to suspend procedures in the trial of Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
The apex court requested that the CCT “dawdle for a little while” and anticipate its choice in the appeal filed by Saraki.
The order by a five-man board, drove by Justice John Fabiyi, took after an endeavor by respondents’ legal counselor, Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), to the effect since the court has conceded quickened hearing in the appeal, he will prevail on the CCT not to continue with trial until the apex court rule on Saraki’s appeal.
Prior, Jacobs and Saraki’s legal advisor, Joseph Daudu (SAN), contended the Senate President’s application for stay of procedures pending the determination of the appeal.
While Daudu asked the court to arrange a stay of proceedings at the CCT, Jacobs contended something else, battling that Saraki was only interested in frustrating his trial before the tribunal by filling numerous applications in various courts.
