Chief challenges traditional authorities to use Kasapreko Dry Gin for their traditional rights

E/R, Sept 20, GNA-Odeneho Nana Kwafo Akoto (III), Paramount Chief of Akwamu in the Eastern Region has challenged traditional authorities to discourage the use of schnapps when pouring libation and rather use Kasapreko Dry Gin for all their traditional rights performances in their communities.

The chief being the first traditional ruler committed to use the local gin said this would do away with the use of schnapps which is foreign liquor for traditional performances to boast the local industry in the country.

The Chief said this over the weekend when the management of Kasapreko Company Limited (KCL) paid a courtesy call on him to reciprocate his familiarization visit to the company.  Odeneho Akoto stressed that just as Russia is noted for their Rum, Britain noted for their whisky, Ghana should also be noted for its authentic Kasapreko Dry Gin and its other assorted drinks to move the country forward.

“Foreigners should be served with such liquors anytime they visit the country as part of their hospitality treats for patronizing hotels and restaurants, that way they would carry such memories to boast the industry”.  Odeneho Akoto thus, urged all hoteliers and restaurant operators in the community to walk their talk by serving foreigners with the locally made drinks, that way it would leave a mark on such foreigners and they would have a positive story to say about Ghana and its hospitality.

Odeneho Akoto (III) expressed gratitude to management, staff and workers for showing interest in his rulership, community, his people and bringing such developmental initiative to them.

Gerald Bonsu, Marketing Manager of KCL speaking to the Chief and his divisional chiefs noted that to develop this country there is the need for Ghanaians as well as traditional leaders to learn to consume locally made products.  He said this would help promote local industries, create employment as well as enhance tourism to move the country on the right pedestal towards development.

He added that Akosombo is the hub of tourism and thus challenged all hospitality institutions operating in the area especially  hoteliers to start introducing locally made product to foreigners when they visit the place as the country has enough of these to display to boast the sector.

He said it is high time companies’ trade among themselves in the country just as African countries to lead to development and raise the currency from its current crisis.

Mr Bonsu stressed that the initiative starting with Akwamuman would be later taken to other traditional areas to ensure that the use of schnapps is totally done away with to boast the indigenous industry and develop the country.

The Manager on behalf of management presented cash and other assorted drinks of the company to the Chief and the people of Akwamu to aid them in their upcoming Akwesidae Festival.

The three most popular hotels in the community Royal Senkyi, Continental Hotel and Volta Hotel representatives at the meeting all pledged to support the initiative by serving locally produced products especially the drinks to enable it reach the shores of other continents.

This would bring mutual benefits to both companies for more investment.
