The Nigerian National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued public warnings, cautioning Nigerians against using a popular bar soap and certain drug products. The alerts were prompted by warnings from the countries where these products are manufactured.
NAFDAC said that the soap contains harmful chemicals that may affect reproductive organs, harm unborn children, and cause skin irritation. The products in question include Dove Beauty Cream Bar Soap, produced in Germany, and several unregistered drug products from the Philippines.
Meanwhile, the drug regulator has issued a warning against purchasing so-called “miracle” products created by a church led by renowned Nigerian Christian televangelist Jeremiah Fufeyin, saying these products make false claims of healing powers, including curing infertility in women.
