Karma – “Do We Have An Odu That Talks Of Such A Karma- Like Situation?

My spiritual friend and sister, Olukemi Ilori asked me, “do we have an odu that talks of such a karma- like situation? Though late in responding, I thought of “Owonrin Sogbe”.
Whatever we do, we must remember there is retribution. One good turn deserves another and it is also reversible. Just listen to the odu.

Owonrin put spiritual beads on the neck of Ogbe’s child but resulted into death.

The story
Both Owonrin and Ogbe are childhood friends. Owonrin needed a pot as a foundation for planting his tree of obi( colanuts). His friend Ogbe gave it him and it resulted into wealth for him because colanuts are essential commodities.
Before then, Ogbe had been suffering from “abiku”(child mortality). To prevent the death of the latest baby, a spiritual bead has to be made and put on the child’s neck to prevent death. Owonrin, being a specialist on this spirituality, did this for his friend for the baby to stay alive.
Owonrin became wealthy through investment in Obi(colanuts) and Ogbe became jealous of him. He thought, “after all, the foundation of his wealth was my pot”. To cut long story short, Ogbe demanded for the return of his pot. Owonrin begged him and pleaded that he would buy another pot for him but he refused knowing that having the pot back would bring the end of the prosperous tree of colanuts.

The matter was taken to the king who also begged Ogbe in vain. The tree was cut to pieces to retrieve the pot. Ogbe had forgotten that one good turn deserves another and vice versa.
I know those reading this would guess what happens next. Owonrin demanded also for the spiritual beads on the neck of Ogbe’s child.
Do you blame him?
Let me have your views.
Stay blessed.
