In 1955, Chief Obafemi Awolowo dethroned Alaafin of Oyo Oba Adeyemi Adeniran II for supporting NCNC against AG in the 1954 elections

The Kabiyesi publicly campaigned for NCNC and after the election, Alaafin that was a very good friend of chief Awolowo was deposed and banished from Oyo to Lagos where he died.

Those privy to the meeting the saw the then Alaafin removed and replaced gad just 6 people in attendance inside Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s House in Ibadan.

Even a Ooni of Ife,Oba of Benin,Oba of Lagos,Deji of Akure and Ataoja of Osogbo has been dethroned before and the world didn’t collapsed.
