Lobatan: Kenyan Musicians head to the street Against local Media, for Over-Playing  Davido, Iyanya’s music

Local artists in Kenya have taken to streets to vent their dissatisfaction at local media in the nation for committing greater part of airplay to music from different nations particularly Nigeria and South Africa. The Kenya Musician Movement (KENAM) as of late challenged the absence of airplay, requesting 70% for Kenyan music on all platforms

The dissidents are calling coming in the heels of an order by the legislature to all Kenyan TV station to screen 60% of the local content, this is yet to be figured it out. As per Mitch Wyclif, a marketing specialist for beat ya Keggah production lebel, ‘we are requesting for 70% airplay from our local media as we see just Tanzania and Nigeria music being aired.

The media has swung to be the most corrupt platform. One needs to bribe producers of shows and DJs to get airplay in their station.’ as of late, Nigerian pop stars like Davido, Iyanya, Wizkid, Yemi Alade and others have all headlined sold out shows in Kenya and this is not the first time Kenyan performers will go head to head with Nigerian acts. In March 2015, Kenyan fans took to online networking to pummel HKN manager, Davido over his poor execution in the nation.

Likewise in January 2015, Kenyan rapper Mwafreeka fired shots at Nigerian rapper, Ice Prince and afterward he apologized a couple of days later. All that, obviously, is not overlooking the hamburger beef between Kenyan rapper Jaguar and MMMG lead act Iyanya a couple of months back.
