A Nigerian man yelled indignantly and battled against cops after a appeal hearing of his misrepresentation conviction in Da Nang was suspended on Friday, because of the nonappearance of his interpreter.
Nnadikwe Christian Sunday stood trial again with his assistants, Nigerian Deke Collins and Vietnamese Le Thi Kim Quyen. The translator for the two Nigerians was missing because of health issues. The judge panel chose to adjourn the court. Sunday, then cuffed, stood up and yelled at the panel in English. Police asked that he take a seat however he fought back, and they had to bring him out of the court.
The three filed a bid after a court in August sentenced Quyen to 15 years in prison and the Nigerians 12 years each for two cyber fraud cases that earned them more than VND3.3 billion (US$150,000) in the middle of April and August 2013.
A large portion of the cash originated from the plan in which they hacked into the messages of local companies to swindle cash from their foreign accomplices.
In the other plan, they put on a show to be a British companion of two Vietnamese ladies on Facebook and requesting that they send cash as transportation expenses to get gifts. Another accomplice, Mamado Abdallar Mark, is still on the loose.
