Ohun Àbáláyé Atijọ reports –

With deep sorrow, we share the loss of Felipe Garcia Villamil, a fundamental pillar in our Aña and Osha community.

This master percussionist and cultural bearer of the Afro-Cuban tradition Lucumí left an indelible mark on the lives of many.

Through his music and teaching, Felipe inspired generations, sharing his knowledge of bata drums and other traditional instruments.

His legacy lives on through his family, students, godchildren, and friends.

His departure reminds us of the importance of preserving our African cultural traditions, which have enriched the lives of so many. He is different. Light and Progress to His Spirit.
