The police in Lagos State have captured a suspected vandal, Moshood Jibril, who said his group typically settled security operators with about N500,000 to transport stolen Premium Motor Spirit (famously called petrol) to Ibadan, Oyo State. Jibril, who was nabbed by operatives , Joseph Friday, said he additionally acquired autos unlawfully from the Benin Republic to sell in the nation.
It was learnt that the suspects were captured by agents of the Inspector-General of Police Special Taskforce on Anti-Pipeline Vandalism on Friday in the Isolo region of the state, after they had supposedly siphoned fuel from a pipeline belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation in the Ijegun region.
A truck stacked with 33,000 liters of stolen fuel, and a Toyota auto were recouped from the suspects. Jibril said the truck conveying products belonged to his senior sibling, identified as Rasheed Adewale, adding that his part was to escort the stolen fuel to Ibadan. He said, “My employment is to escort the truck from Lagos after we have stacked the fuel. I would drive behind the truck and a lady called Anna would bring N500,000 which we would use to settle security agents on our way.
