Angered by what they called foul play with the death of a favorite Nollywood actor, Clems Onyeka, after he was attacked by armed robbers, who also attacked a bullion van in Asaba, Delta State, relations of the victim took their case to a juju priest.
They vowed never to rest until they arrive at the end of the matter.
A number of the aggrieved relations, including Patrick Onyeka told our correspondent in Asaba that the members of the family resolved to take the case to a juju priest for perspicacious judgment; saying that they don’t rely on the stray bullet story as vehemently claimed by the police.
Since it were, the robbers, in accordance with dependable sources, trailed the bullion van from the Benin/Asaba Express way through the Summit road and intercepted it over the DBS road before U&I Foundation, where they engaged law enforcement team on escort duty in a fierce gun battle, allegedly killing the most popular Nollywood actor by stray bullet.
Police public relations officer in the state, DSP Celestina Kalu, who insisted yesterday that the Nollywood actor was killed with a stray bullet, said a policeman in law enforcement escort team was also killed through the fierce gun battle.
She disclosed that law enforcement in early hours of yesterday, have arrested 6 suspected persons in connection with the attack; adding that four others suspected to be armed robbers were also killed along Ogwashi-uku/Asaba express way during the robbery operation.
While appealing to members of the family of the popular Nollywood actor to take everything with equanimity; DSP Kalu assured members that law enforcement would arrive at the root cause of the incident; adding that the arrested suspects already are helping law enforcement with further investigation.
Expectedly, it was reliably gathered that the robbers numbering over eight found its way to Asaba with a Siena Toyota car commando-style, causing pandemonium on the ever busy DBS Asaba road before law enforcement escort moved in to the incident.
Sources stated that the street users scampered for safety as most of them abandoned their cars, but once the police realized that the bullion van driver had escaped with the van intact, work of the U&I foundation was riddled with bullets whilst the staffers scampered through the fence for his or her dear lives.
Speaking further, DSP Kalu confirmed that among the robbers was killed by law enforcement, adding that the armed gang escaped with the corpse of certainly one of their colleagues killed through the shootout whilst the Siena car with Reg No. AA261XX was abandoned with the robbers snatching another car from the motorist to escape.
