UN Torture Watchdog Slams US For Police Violence in Ferguson

The UN Committee against Torture urged Washington to completely investigate and prosecute all cases of police brutality.

An open letter from US experts urges the US President to permit the release of a written report giving information on CIA interrogation methods.

The UN Committee against Torture has criticized the United States for police brutality and excessive usage of force active in the shootings of unarmed people belonging to a certain racial and ethnic groups.

“The Committee is concerned about numerous reports of police brutality and excessive use of force by law enforcement officials, in particular against persons belonging to certain racial and ethnic groups, immigrants and LGBTI individuals, racial profiling by police and immigration offices and growing militarization of policing activities,” said the UN panel report released on Friday.

The committee urged Washington to completely investigate and prosecute all cases of police brutality and excessive usage of force by police force officers.

The report was published on Friday, just days a Missouri grand jury didn’t indict a bright officer who shot and killed Michael Brown, an unarmed African-American teenager, in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson in August. The decision triggered a trend of protests nationwide.
