Volkswagen has dropped footage of its new Golf GTI Clubsport S breaking the front-wheel drive Nurburgring lap record. The auto figured out how to lap the well known German race track in 7:49.21, only barely a second faster than the Honda Civic Type R that already held the record. In the driver’s seat for Volkswagen was touring auto driver Benny Leuchter. We see Leuchter hit around 150 mph on the straight aways in the video, while the auto pulls up to 1.5 G in the corners and under braking.
