PDP Governors, Senators, Business big shots, technocrats and others gathered at the old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja yesterday night December twentieth to raise money to help President Jonathan’s re-race battles.
At the gathering pledges dinner, 21 PDP Governors gave N50million each which came to N1.05billion. Entrepreneurs in the Oil and Gas segment gave N5billion while their partners in the Real Estate & Building made a gift of N4billion.
Players in the Transport and Aviation area made a vow of N1billion, those in Agriculture gave N500million while those in the power sector promised N500m. Leading group of the Shelter Development Limited gave N250million while players in the Construction part swore N310million. Road Construction players swore N250million while the National Automative Association vowed N450million. The Chairman of the fund raisingdinner, Mr Tunde Ayeni made a gift of N2billion while the Chairman of SIFAX gathering gave 100million. The Rivers state PDP Chapter gave N50million.
Africa’s Richest man, Aliko Dangote who was the made the Chief Fund Raiser was missing at the occasion as he is said to be out of Nigeria yet his delegate, Joseph Makanju guaranteed that the business head honcho would make his gift known once he arrives Nigeria.
With all the monies declared at the fund raising dinner and additionally those from private people, a sum of N21.27bn was raised
President Jonathan subsequently thanked everybody who gave and guaranteed that their gifts would not be futile.
