Camels are located mainly in the semi-arid northern part of Nigeria including Borno, Yobe, Kano, Jigawa, Katsina, Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara States . There was a rise in the camel population in Nigeria from about 18,000 in 1978 to about 90,000 in 1994
