Food Inflation In the U.S vs Nigeria

A few days ago, I was discussing with one of my friends who lives in the US, and what we were talking about? the high cost of living. At some point during that conversation, I lost interest until he mentioned house rent and the hike in food inflation. He called my name three times and told me that one month of his house rent could pay for my six months’ rent in Nigeria. He went on to say that the amount of money for his plate of food could feed some families in Nigeria for one week. Funny enough, the guy dislikes Tinubu. But my question is, could this be true? I’m not living in the US; can someone help me verify these claims?

Against America: Mr Peroo @petere7801

There is massive food inflation in USA right now, but then again it’s same in most western countries. 1 bedroom average for rent monthly is $1703 for the entire USA. Average minimum wage is $15/hr. You can work 40 hrs a week and 4 weeks in a month before you enter overtime which most companies don’t want because over that means they legally have to pay you 1.5x your salary per hr so $22.5 and they won’t pay.

So back to the original calculation. With that $15/hr, in one month you will bring in $2400. They will deduct tax and social security at source which will leave you with $1900-$2000 depending on factors. Now your rent is $1703… see where I’m going? We never talk food, transport if you don’t have a car, and if you have a car, fuel, insurance, car maintenance etc… see where I’m going?

God bless 🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬

In favour of America: Uchenna @Fynmarkz

See as una believe the crap 🤣😂
Anyways una know wetin Una dey do.
The average per hour pay in US is $28 & that is the lowest one can get.
Ur minimum wage per month is less than $50, even though no one has been paid such amount. Again how many people are well employed in Nig?

The Sahel Revolution: Real Decolonisation!

People throw about the term ‘decolonisation’ left, right and centre. University campuses say they’re decolonising curriculums, and corporations – the workplace. But true decolonisation is a question of land, sovereignty and self-determination. Today, three countries in Africa – Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger – have taken revolutionary steps towards achieving just that. They have booted out Western troops stationed on their territories and torn up exploitative contracts with multinationals. Now the trio is pushing ahead with building nuclear power plants, ...
