Video: Nigerian police in words exchange with a foreigner in festac town, Lagos.

Nigerian Police recorded harassing a citizen and a foreigner for no reason other than they saw a “big apple in the car”. When people travel abroad and get stopped by Police, it’s usually for one reason or the order; Mostly, by breaking a traffic law. You would meet a highly disciplined Police that knows the law.

But in an interview with Channels Television on 24th of April 2021, the IGP said that vigilate groups are carrying illegal arms.

He also maintained that all checkpoints in terms of roadblocks are banned.

“Vigilante groups are supposed to be working with the communities, gather intelligence and pass to the police.

“Vigilante groups are not supposed to carry arms…any of them that does so is carrying illegal arms.

“Up till today, checkpoints in terms of roadblocks are banned. Any police officer that engages in that is doing an illegal duty and if he is caught, he would answer for it,” he said.
