The Boko Haram terrorist group, also known as ISIS-West, has released propaganda images showing the attack on Gudumbali town, the headquarters of Guzamala Local Government Area in the northern part of Borno State.
The pictures shows Boko Haram insurgents attacking military positions as well as seized weapons.
The Gudumbali attack by Boko Haram occurred, on Friday evening, and lasted for about four hours, fleeing residents and military sources around the area said.
The insurgents came with high calibre weapons, firing into the town and attacked the military base, the sources disclosed.
Scores of troops and residents, mostly returnee internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), were killed but the military has kept mute about the casualty figure.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Army on Sunday said normalcy has returned to Gudumbali in Guzamala Local Government area of Borno state after a combination of troops from 82 Division and the 158 Task Force Battalion engaged Boko Haram Terrorists in a combat which lasted several hours.
