Ben Murray-Bruce, a senator from Bayelsa state and proprietor of Silverbird Entertainment, has prompted President Muhammadu not to jump when borrowingif the procedure will prompt the development of Nigeria “overnight”. Murray-Bruce, who was making his contribution to the open debate on Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), on Wednesday, contended that Nigeria’s “piecemeal” borrowing would not achieve the required development.
He encouraged the legislature to acquire any amount of cash to develop Nigeria quickly.
After the debate on the framework, Senate President Bukola Saraki referred it to the committees on finance and appropriations, and directed them to submit their report next Tuesday. Meanwhile, the senate confirmed the appointment of Babatunde Fowler as chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
