BMW goes ahead with plans for a full-size ultra-luxury sedan.
German car magazine Auto Bild is reporting that BMW will take the 9 Series to production to vie against the Mercedes-Benz S600 Maybach model. Based on the report, the last design of the 9 Series is going to be close from what we saw with the Vision Future Luxury concept. That features the thin, sleek headlamps and tail lights, the grand coupe-like roofline, sloping C-pillar, and curt rear end.
The 9 Series’construction can make liberal usage of aluminum and carbon fiber to help keep the weight of the beastly sedan only possible. Expected underneath the hood is a 6.6-liter bi-turbo V12 engine producing well over 600 hp. Basically, it would be the same unit that’s been already fitted to the M760 Li. A strong hybrid setup can be a chance, nonetheless it will probably have a greater output compared to one located on the 740e.
Based on Auto Bild, the 9 Series will debut in 2020.
