The Leopards of DR Congo are through to the final at the progressing Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) in Rwanda as they crushed Guinea 5 – 4 through penalties in an extremely excruciating experience.
The match had finished 0 – 0 in full regulation time before continuing to extra time.
Jonathan Bolingi’s header in the 102nd minute had put DR Congo ahead before Sankhon, whose goal sent the Super Eagles of Nigeria dropped out of Rwanda struck again seconds to the end of the match to take the game to penalty shootout as the scoreline remained 1 – 1 following 120 minutes.
Both groups lost two penalties each as the penalty shootout reached out into sudden death .
Youla of Guinea later lost his spot-kick which gifted the Leopards a place at the final as the match eneded 5 – 4.
