Dogonyaro led ECOMOG troops in a fierce artillery and air bombardment of Liberia’s capital Monrovia in 1990; forcing the forces of Charles Taylor to withdraw.

He probably pioneered the use of “peace enforcement” (rather than peace keeping) in international missions.
