On December 23, Russian President Vladimir Putin took part in a ceremony officially opening the Crimean bridge linking mainland Russia twith the Republic of Crimea. On December 18, the Russian Federal Service for Ecological, Technological and Nuclear Supervision Rostekhnadzor announced that it had confirmed the technological readiness of the railway part of the bridge across the Kerch Strait.
