The Big Nigeria Trap!

 

If you’ve lived abroad for a while, there is a strong possibility that you must have spent quite a while critiquing the country and its people during extensive discussions/debates with friends. This leads to us developing a subconscious feeling of “superiority” over the general Nigerian populace…and it’s systems . This unwittingly feeds a feeling of arrogance.

Spending 20 or more years in this state of mind is how the trap begins to get set for those who intend to move back.

When one then retires and go es back to join them, it must be hard to find oneself irrelevant within the circles that one finds oneself…especially in a community where “who you are” determines so much in their lives.

So…you spent all those years abroad with a feeling of certainty that you knew better than they do and now you find yourself among them with the clear realization of your near irrelevance!

So, what do you do next?

    Serious question.. Hard time in Naija but we are used to it and others outside need to be coming steadily to adapt before finally relocating.. The cost of living abroad life in Naija is extremely expesive. I don’t know why the hyper-inflation.. It’s sad..
