Giving money to the sick is freewill, be it terminal. It gives great benefits to the ill and their families- the money given can help with anything from ‘everyday household costs to making essential changes around the home’. Some can even be used to set up a foundation (that caters for people with such illness). I think we should be looking at the way forward; which is do your best and leave the rest. May God give us the wisdom to do the the right thing and the milk of human kindness to understand other people situation.
