8. The left and right are fuzzy concepts.

As though these were rigid categories, we all once believed we knew what was right and what was left. The same was true with the term libertarian: we believed that by using those labels, we could forecast opinions and behavior. I don’t think so anymore. I’ve formed alliances with left-leaning individuals in ways I never thought possible and with right-leaning individuals I previously seriously questioned. Furthermore, these phrases don’t seem to mean much anymore because the left seems to be pushing ideas that don’t align with their prior beliefs, and the right has become more accepting of subjects that were previously primarily of interest to the left. I’m generally happy about this, but I’m waiting for everything to settle down a bit because it’s not right now.
