Members of the Shiite group, IMN, today, shot three police officers on duty at the National Assembly, as their protest turned violent.

The incident occurred when the protesters tried to force their way into the assembly complex. There were sporadic gunshots as security men were making efforts to wade them.

The Shiites had been demanding the release of their leader, Ibrahim Yaqoub El Zakzaky, being held by the DSS to face charges for culpable homicide, unlawful assembly and disruption of public peace.
