The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress has said there was no primary election in Lagos State.
The party’s governorship primaries were billed to put on at ward levels across their state on Tuesday. But Premium Times is quoting the panel as saying so no one was sent to the local governments to monitor the primaries, hence the election isn’t valid.
Already, outcomes of the voting have been announced at several wards in their state nevertheless the panel urged people to disregard such announcements. Recall it was earlier reported that the national working committee panel in control of the governorship primary election in Lagos state has dissociated itself from the exercise.
The committee, based on reports, opposed the possibility A4 mode found in the election, expressing preference for secret ballot system.
Option A4, still referred to as open ballot, is a system where voters queue behind the agent or representative of these preferred candidates while secret ballot system is a procedure where a voter’s choice is confidential.
Babajide Sanwo-Olu, a former commissioner of their state, is leading Akinwunmi Ambode, governor of the state, with a landslide in the outcomes of the election announced so far.
