BB finally and publicly showed his loyalty and the acceptance of the leadership of Muhammadu Buhari with his right clenched fist to symbolize “rankandede” in the Hausa custom.

Rankandede is done for a person you have accepted and considered to be above you or your superior in power, authority, position and leadership. Buhari offered a handshake to IBB, but IBB opted for a rankandede instead of a handshake while Alhaji Shehu Shagari looked on with surprise and admiration.
