3. DeLorean DMC-12

The DeLorean DMC-12 might have been made famous as a result of Back to the Future, but there is nothing truly fast about the vehicle itself, although it looked the part using its gullwing doors. The initial vehicle came built with a 2.8-liter V6 engine that made around 130 hp. But the good thing is, it’s creating a comeback using its original design and DMC is speaking with a few suppliers such that it can install a contemporary V6 powerplant which will offer between 350 to 400 hp. Maybe then, the DeLorean will ultimately go as fast because it looks, although its styling is terribly outdated for the present day era.

2. Honda CR-Z

When the Honda CR-Z was initially announced, Honda enthusiasts were drooling at the likelihood that the compact hatch will be a true successor to the CR-X. But alas, the CR-Z proved to become a hybrid and even then, it didn’t do such a best wishes at getting amazing fuel economy, returning 39 mpg on the highway. And though it had a sporty, aggressive design, the CR-Z features a meager 130 hp and 140 lb-ft of torque with a six-speed manual transmission, and only 127 lb-ft of torque with the CVT. The paradoxical car was neither sporty nor fuel efficient and might be why it’s been discontinued from the automaker’s lineup.

1. Scion FR-S / Subaru BRZ / Toyota 86

As it pertains to modern sports cars, you will find not many that look as fast because the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ. The FR-S will be referred to as the Toyota 86, but that doesn’t change the fact so the majority are disappointed in its straight-line performance. With a 2.0-liter Boxer engine beneath the hood, it produces 200 hp and 151 lb-ft of torque in the BRZ, whilst the 86 can get 205 hp and 156 lb-ft of torque. Neither are terribly impressive and although it is a fun car to drive a vehicle and handles great, the fact it really isn’t fast has left enthusiasts wondering what may have been.
