The Kia Optima will come in 10th place with a price of $6,400 to keep up over 10 years. The Korean automaker ranked 14th overall (out of 30 automakers ranked) with a price of $8,800 when YourMechanic grouped all years of most models by brand to compute their average cost.
Scion no more exists as a brandname, but its cars remain inexpensive to maintain. The Scion xB costs $6,300 to keep up over 10 years while Scion could be the second-cheapest brand, at 29th place with a price of $6,400.
8. Toyota Yaris
You’re likely to see a lot of Toyota models on the list, and the Yaris is obviously among the higher priced Toyota vehicles to keep up over 10 years. To bag eighth place, the Yaris includes a maintenance cost of $6,100 over 10 years. Toyota as a brandname however, is the least expensive overall with a price of $5,500.
Nissan Versa owners can spend $5,900 over 10 years to keep up their car. Nissan bageed 23rd overall with a price of $7,600.
The Toyota Corolla is among the best-selling cars ever and it’s easy to understand why once you take into consideration so it costs $5,800 to keep up over 10 years.
Even Toyota pickup trucks are cheap to keep up, with the Tacoma landing fifth place with a 10-year maintenance cost of $5,800.
Surprisingly, Honda’s other cars don’t make the list, even though the Civic is in 14th place and the Accord follows in 15th. Nevertheless the Honda Fit could be the Japanese automaker’s cheapest car to keep up over 10 years with a price of $5,500. Honda as a brandname came in 27th-place overall with a price of $7,200.
3. Toyota Camry
Toyota continues its standing of low-cost maintenance with the best-selling Camry. Within the span of 10 years, owners can get to pay for $5,200 in maintenance costs.
And then there’s the Kia Soul, among the cheapest cars to keep up over 10 years. Based on YourMechanic, the Soul costs $4,700 to help keep running over a decade.
And the least expensive car to keep up over 10 years? The Toyota Prius. Their wildly popular hybrid car can be cheap you can buy, running just $4,300 to keep up over 10 years. It could be interesting to see if those costs rise when the batteries need replacing.
