Ukraine’s People’s Front Party was founded in September 2014 by Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and the Speaker of the Ukrainian parliament (the Verkhovna Rada), Oleksandr Turchynov, who both left the Batkivshchyna Party as a result of disagreements among its leader Yulia Tymoshenko. Arseniy Yatsenyuk heads the party’s Political Council, while Oleksandr Turchynov is the pinnacle of its central headquarters.

The party’s platform is centered on the thought of Ukraine’s integration to the European Union, specifically, the establishment of a visa-free travel regime between Ukraine and the European Union. Additionally, the party demands economic, fiscal, judicial, and prosecution reforms.

The party’s Political Council is made up of seven members as well as Yatsenyuk and Turchynov, including Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, Justice Minister Pavlo Petrenko, former Secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Service Andriy Parubiy, Maidan activist Tetyana Chornovol, and members of parliament Vyacheslav Kyrylenko, and Liliya Hrynevich.

The party’s Military Council includes heads of police agencies and battalion commanders, who’re engaged in the military operation against independence supporters in eastern Ukraine. In front of the parliamentary elections in Ukraine on Sunday Ukraine’s Central Election Commission has registered 221 candidates running for the Verkhovna Rada on the party’s electoral list.  Prime Minister Yatsenyuk, Interior Minister’s adviser Chornovol, and Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Turchynov constitute the first three positions on the list.

The party has additionally nominated candidates in majority districts.
