I don’t attend funerals, not Nigerian funerals because I witness so much dishonest there.
The last one I went to had same dishonesty. This very quarrelsome man died and was being buried; every one was happy eating rice then came the moment of final resting, people started wailing and one woman went as far as trying to jump in the grave!
This was so hypocritical and terrible acting because this same woman was eating rice not long ago. An hour later when the last shovel of earth was thrown over the grave, went to read what was on the tombstone;
“A great and loving father.”
The funeral obsequies earlier, did say something like
“A legend will be missed.”
No he wasn’t and from the way those villagers were eating rice, I don’t think they miss him.
By the way, the woman that was acting soon returned to eating rice again!
I see the dishonesty in burials that I don’t want one; I will save for a cremation and have my ashes planted in a far off rainforest to be forgotten in the blossom love of nature.
I can’t rest in peace if my tombstone reads “peaceful, loving, and caring.”
That would be very dishonest and quite condescending.
