The leading Republican hopeful in the 2016 US presidential race, Donald Trump, noticed that the Cuban President didn’t appear at the airplane terminal to welcome his American counterpart Barack Obama and called such conduct “disrespectful.”
The real estate initially commented on the occasion on Twitter, saying that Raul Castro already touched base at Jose Marti International airplane terminal to welcome Pope Francis “and others”.
Obama touched base in the Cuban capital of Havana on Monday in a memorable visit and is due to meet with Castro to survey progress made on the standardization of relations between the two nations. It is the first visit of a sitting US president to Cuba in 88 years.
The US president and his family were welcomed on the ground by Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Eduardo Rodriguez Parrilla, Cuban Ambassador to the United States Jose Cabanas and Josefina Vidal, the head of US issues at Cuba’s Foreign Ministry.
