Furthermore, the palace of the Oba of Benin is very famous. The palace, built by King Ewedo, is located in the heart of the ancient city of Benin. In addition, it was rebuilt by Emperor Ewe II when the first palace was destroyed during the 1897 war with the British. The Benin palace houses the traditional ruling house and seat of authority of Benin.
