Why I will never forget the late Oba of Benin, Omonoba Ereduiewa – Araba

I will never forget the late Oba of Benin, Omonoba Ereduiewa for several reasons.
1. He was an unblemished supporter of African Traditional Religion. When he was the chancellor of University of Ibadan, he asked President Ibrahim Babangida in his address during their convocation, “why would the Federal Government pick 9 Christians, 9 Muslims and zero African Traditional Religionist to form Religious Council? He went further to declare, “If the Federal Government doesn’t know whom to choose, they should contact Chief Akano Fasina Agboola, the then Araba of Lagos (my father, now deceased )”. The address is in the archive of University of Ibadan for those who want to verify my statement.
2. He was responsible for my comfortable stay in Benin city during my National Youths Service Corps in 1983
3. He sent delegates to my coronation as Araba of Oworonsoki Kingdom in 2006.
4. His faith in Ifa Religion cannot be over-emphasized.
Please join me to hail a champion of African Philosophy.
May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace. Ase.
Stay blessed.
From Araba of Oworonsoki Kingdom, Lagos Nigeria.

The End of a Failed Experiment: Nigeria Embraces State Police

The question is not why lawmakers took this important step. The real questions are twofold: Why would anyone with a working brain imagine that a centralized police ...
