The life style in Lagos Island is one that is tailored towards conspicuous consumption and people who live there are in constant pressure to continue to “fit” into the circle. This sometimes becomes the priority so people want to change their cars periodically and be in vogue. Lagos mainland doesn’t have the same terrain so it’s easy to cut ones clothes according to cloth and size. The relationship between neighbours is also more cordial and family-like on the mainland.
