LINTHICUM, Md. (AP) — Customs and Border Patrol specialists have seized more than $40,000 in unreported money from a Nigerian traveler at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport.
The Department of Homeland Security reported Monday that the man who landed at BWI on a flight from London on Sunday at first announced that he had $5,000. The man later revised that to $22,000, yet authorities say cutoms specialists at last found more than $42,700 on the man and in his baggage. The cash was seized and the man was advised on the most proficient method to file for a petition for return of the money. He has not been accused of a wrongdoing.
There’s no restriction on the amount of money travelers can import and export, however they must report sums bigger than $10,000
