FG is set to upgrade the equipment and facilities of the Nigerian Navy within measures meant to improve the fight against insurgency and other crimes. The Minister of Defence General Aliyu Gusau (rtd) disclosed this yesterday at the commissioning of the Naval Headquarters office extension in Abuja, adding the government would continue steadily to cater for the welfare of military personnel.
Gusau commended the Nigerian Navy because of its contribution to the present fight against insurgency in the Nation, whilst applauding their achievements in the fight oil theft and other maritime crimes. He urged officers and men of the Navy to not rest on the oars, but to keep patriotic, disciplined and committed for their professional calling.
The Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin stated the Navy embarked on the extension of the Headquarters building to be able to address an acute shortage of office accommodation. Within the last few four years, President Jonathan has ensured adequate resources are manufactured available to any or all the military and para-military organs to improve the fight crime and terrorism,
