The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Attahiru Jega, has told Nigerian government legislators he couldn’t promise the 2015 general elections will take place on rescheduled dates in March and April.
At a gathering with Senators Wednesday, Mr. Jega said he couldn’t submit himself to the “sacredness” of March 28 and April 11 – dates for the rescheduled Nigeria’s general decisions. He said the electing commission couldn’t promise parts of the elections that are outside its ability to control. Mr. Jega met with the legislators to audit the choice to delay the elections from February.
