The Nigerian military today, 24th of July Friday recovered Dikwa town from members of the Boko Haram terrorist group.
The Director, Air Force Information, Air Commodore Dele Alonge, reveled on the phone that a joined operation of the Air Force and ground forces prompted the sacking of the radicals from the town after an encounter on Friday morning.
Dikwa town, which was captured from the guerrillas in February by Chadian troops, was not totally freed until the assault on Friday.
In spite of the fact that, the Air Force representative affirmed to have recovered the town, he was noiseless on the casualty figure on both sides.
The official media consultancy outfit of the Nigerian military, PR Nigeria, expressed that the Nigerian Air Force Alpha Jet and reconnaissance air ship were sent in the hostile against the radicals topave the way for the ground forces to move into the town.
It was expressed that three ambush points with operational vehicles, mounted with hostile to airplane weapons, having a place with the radicals, were annihilated.
It was further expressed that the military had initiated a cordon and search operation in Dikwa
