The supreme court has rejected the appeal documented by Chukwuemeka Ezeugo, general overseer of the Christian Praying Assembly (also called Reverend King), challenging the judgment of a Lagos high court hanging so as to sentence him to death.
In his lead judgment, Justice Sylvester Ngwuta, said the certainties of the case were “similar to what you find in a blood and horror film”. he included that the request needed legitimacy. The court maintained the judgment of the lower court sentencing him to death, yet overruled the 20-year sentence passed on by the high court.
