- Osun-Oshogbo Sacred Grove in Osun State
This is a sacred forest known as the home of “the goddess of fertility”, situated by the banks of the Osun River, on the outskirts of the capital city of Oshogbo.
Shrines, sculptures, art works, and shelters surround the river in tribute to the goddess and other local deities. It is said to be the last Yoruba sacred forest still standing. It was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 2005. Its yearly festival brings thousands of tourists, audience and Osun worshippers from around the world.
