Carla Denise Garrison has been awarded significantly more than $4.6 million, by way of a jury, after she was stuck by a hypodermic needle found in a Target parking lot at in Anderson County, South Carolina, U.S. Garrison was in the retailer’s parking lot in May 2014 when her daughter found a hypodermic needle.
Garrison swatted it out of her hand and was stuck in her own palm. She was bedridden due to medication prescribed due to the potential threat of HIV. Her attorney had offered Target an offer of $12,000, but the organization offered $750 in response.
