Xenophobic assaults In SA: 8 Nigerians signify interest to return home

8 Nigerians have demonstrated enthusiasm to come back to Nigeria taking after xenophobic assaults in South Africa.

In a meeting with the News Agency of Nigeria today April 22nd, Nigeria’s Consul General to SA, Amb. Uche Ajulu-Okeke, said the 8 Nigerians are right now at the deportation holding facility

“I am working with eight Nigerians who have indicated interest to go home. They are presently at the deportation holding facility at Limbola, South Africa,” she said.

She also said the Nigerian commission had a meeting with Nigerians in the nine provinces in South Africa were those inflicted with machete and gunshots wounds attended and gave firsthand reports on how they were attacked.
“The meeting was successful. Victims of the attacks came with wounds, including machete and gunshot wounds. They narrated how they were attacked and brought pictures. We took note of all that. The mission asked all the provincial chairmen of the union to collate all information reported.’’she said Amb. Ajulu-Okeke said she will be forwarding all the details of the attacks to the Federal government.
